A resident of the partially occupied Ukrainian village of Ocheretinoye walked more than 10 kilometers without food or water to get to territory controlled by Ukraine.
During two years of full-scale war, Ukrainians demonstrate incredible courage and fortitude. And when it seems that nothing can be amazed anymore, suddenly another story emerges, proving the uncontrollable craving of the Ukrainian people for freedom.
It’s incredible, but 98-year-old Ukrainian Lidiya Stepanovna walked the entire front under shelling and covered more than 10 km to get out of the occupied part of Ocheretinoye (Donetsk region - ed.). This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The woman supported herself on two sticks and fell exhausted several times, but still achieved her goal and ended up on Ukrainian territory. Towards evening, the brave Ukrainian woman was seen on the road by the military and handed over to the White Angel police group. The police took the woman to a shelter, where her granddaughter was to pick her up.
“There is horror going on there (in Ocheretiny – ed.),” said Lidia Stepanovna. - “I survived that war (World War II – ed.) and this one too. And I was left with nothing. But that war was not like that.”
According to the woman, during the Second World War not a single house burned down, but now everything is on fire, since the enemy is completely demolishing everything, sparing nothing and no one.
